Allergies, Intolerances and Infants

Earlier this month Baby911 visited the Allergy Show at Olympia in London.  It was a brilliant event with an abundance of information.  It soon became very apparent to me that there is still a wealth of information and education still needed regarding allergy and intolerance diagnosis. Unfortunately many GP's are unable or unwilling to focus on root causes to many ailments but are still geared to only giving chemical medications to control the conditions.  Many parents listen to their baby's cries in anguish not knowing what is causing their child's pain not realising that it could be something the infant is eating or the mother in the case of breastfeeding mothers.

Unless it's an obvious allergy for example to peanuts where the symptoms are immediate and clear, it's very much a trial and error procedure. There was so much to learn at the show but I noticed that a lot of the focus was on how to replace junk food with other junk food without using ingredients that may cause a reaction in  certain people.  I came across so many gluten free biscuits and cakes but no fresh food,  which in my mind would help the body in a variety of ways, rather than just avoiding certain ingredients that will cause devastating reactions. I think an opportunity was missed to educate people about wholesome food alternatives and not junk food alternatives.

At Baby911 we always take a holistic approach to every infant's situation.  Our vast experience has seen so many children with allergies and intolerances that affect them in so many different ways. Two big culprits are pasteurised milk and wheat products. Within our team along with sleep and feeding consultants we have qualified herbalists that have given many parents a lot of solid advice regarding their child's individual food issues. The Baby911 team are able to achieve the goal of helping newborns right through to school age children  to eat, sleep and live healthier and happier lives.
